All Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Instructors are highly trained both academically and in the water. We are monitored and evaluated for our safety and efficiency and must complete stringent recertification requirements annually.
In May of 2007 I enrolled my two children in ISR lessons. I was a working mom who was sending her children to summer camp for the first time. I was terrified at the thought of them in a pool without my supervision. Luckily, we lived near Barbara Gorman, the only ISR instructor in Pennsylvania. After researching the ISR program, I was shocked that any swim program could teach these skills. I had been researching many local swim programs, and none could hold a candle to ISR. By the second week of lessons, I was amazed at my children's skills. I was so amazed, that I soon knew I wanted to leave my career in advertising and become the second instructor in Pennsylvania. I began my training 8 months later.
I have been teaching since 2008 and I still love going to the pool every day. Each time I watch a young child roll onto his back for the first time and take a breath, I get goosebumps. Teaching young children survival swimming skills and developing their confidence is very rewarding. I feel so lucky to have found ISR for myself and my children. My decision to teach ISR is one of the best decisions I ever made.
